Exclusive Interview with
k larsen
When did you start writing?
2012 when I couldn't find any psychological thrillers that were also romance.
What makes writing your passion?
I love being in my own imaginary world.
How long have you been writing?
since 2012
What was the feeling when you published your first book?
terror. What if no one read it or worse...liked it?!
What’s the story behind your choice of characters?
I don't choose my characters, they choose me.
What annoys you the most in pursuing a writing career?
having to wear all hats all the time from marketing to writing to advertising and social media.
How do you get over the “writer’s block”?
writer's block doesn't exist.
We all know the writer’s path is never easy, what makes you keep going? What advice would you give to new authors?
write what you know, seek out more and more experiences so you can know more.
If you could go back in time and talk to your younger self, what would you say?
an office job isn't for you...change your major!
Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with the bad ones?
Occasionally I read some. More often than not I do not. They aren't my business. Reviews are for readers, not authors.
What is the feeling when you get a good review?
It always feels glorious to receive a compliment.
Have you ever incorporated something that happened to you in real life into your novels?
absolutely. there are shards of me in all my books.
Which of your characters you can compare yourself with? Did you base that character on you?
I have no characters based on me. Are there some elements of my personality in some of them--sure.
What do you think, the book cover is as important as the story?
not as important, but definitely very high up there.
Do you connect with your readers? Do you mind having a chat with them or you prefer to express yourself through your writing?
I love connecting with readers. My group on Facebook is very active and lovely.
How do you feel when people appreciate your work or recognize you in public?
humbled and grateful.
Who is your favorite author? Why?
Just one?! As if!
What’s the dream? Whom would you like to be as big as?
The dream is to support the whole family on my income.
Would you rewrite any of your books? Why?
No. They all are pieces of my writing history and stages.
If you could switch places with any author – who would that be?
Tarryn Fisher or Alessandra Torre they're both fierce and I love that about them.
What would you say to the “trolls” on the internet? We all know them – people who like to write awful reviews to books they’ve never read or didn’t like that much, just to annoy the author.
Good luck to you!
What would you say to your readers?
I value you for taking the time to read my words. I am eternally grateful that you took a chance on me.
Share a bit about yourself – where do you live, are you married, do you have kids?
I live in Maine. I have kids and dogs and a husband.
What is your day job if you have one?
I'm an artist's assistant and I get to play with power tools all day.
What are your hobbies? What do you do in your free time?
I love gardening, cooking, walks, floating in lakes and pools and well you get the idea.
Did you have a happy childhood?
Yes.
Is there a particular experience that made you start writing?
free time and circumstance
Do you have unpublished books? What are they about?
a few shorter pieces that eventually will go into a collection of writings.
What do you think should be improved in the education of our children? What do we lack?
I think our education system needs an overhaul--we haven't changed it since its inception- it's outdated and lackluster.
If you were allowed 3 wishes – what would they be?
to successfully write full time
to spend more time with loved ones
to gift my family long warm vacations

absolutely anything but heavy death metal
